Anaesthetic Services

Anaesthetists are doctors with advanced specialist training in Anaesthetics and Peri-operative Medicine. Anaesthetists may also work in Intensive/Critical Care, Chronic Pain Management or in other related areas.

When you come into Bendigo Day Surgery for a procedure, your Anaesthetist will see you to plan your anaesthetic. The type of anaesthetic that you have will depend on your procedure, medical illnesses that you may have and your needs for the surgery.

During the procedure, your Anaesthetist will control your level of consciousness and will closely monitor your breathing and airway, blood pressure, fluid balance and pain levels, both during and after the surgery.They will ensure that you wake up with as little pain, nausea or discomfort following the procedure.
